Dome Rollers Replaced
The dome rollers where noisy when first installed but the did run fairly smooth. As soon as the temperature drop down into the 30f to 20f deg's they started to get a lot louder and started hanging up. Making it very hard to move by hand and the drive motor was under a strain most of the time. I tried to adjust the rollers but nothing seemed to help, finally I sprayed the rollers with WD 40 and that help a whole lot, the dome was movable again. I knew that the WD 40 was a temporary fix and would not last very long, and that something needed to be done for a permanent fix.
I talked to Dan at ED and he stated that they did not carry and different type of rollers for the ED's. He also stated that the rollers where skate type rollers. I did some checking on the net and found that the inline roller skate where the right type of wheels for the ED. I removed a set off of my dome and measured the rollers and brackets for the best fit. The base rollers where 51mm and the guide rollers where 59mm with 6mm mounting holes. I measured the base to see if I could use a little bit taller base roller and I figured that I could use the 59mm rollers on everything.

I drilled out the side that was flared out to remove the pin. After drilling the head off I use a punch to drive out the pin and that allowed me to take the roller assembly apart.

What I use was 20 new 59mm rollers, 40 zero drag 608 bearings, 20 6mm bearing spacers, 10 SS 1/4 x 20 x 1 1/2" bolts, 20 SS 1/4" washers (to space out the wheels on the base rollers one on each side), and 10 SS 1/4" acorn nuts.
I got the rollers, bearings and spacers from RollerBob.com he gave me a good price on the complete set. I boughtthe Stainless Steel bolts, washer and acorn nut from Lowes I do not think they gave me a good price but I needed them,if I had it to do over again I would shop around for the Stainless Steel items.
I can tell you that the dome moves very smooth without hardly any noise at all, no more hang ups and no more grinding noise. The total cost of all parts where about $130.00 and took me about 4 hours to complete the whole job.
I remove the retainer rings from the outside and blocked up the dome on the inside to give me access to the rollers.
Removed two sets at a time rebuild the roller assemblies and reinstalled them till I replaced then all. Then I lowered the dome and reinstalled the retainer rings and adjusted the guide rollers. Now I am back to being a happy camper with the ED again. Did I tell how SMOOTH and QUIET it is now?
